I'm feeling smug as my first pick of the week won last week. Thanks to a strong performance by Chelsea and a great display by Cole Palmer.

This week I'm going bold and picking Southampton! I know I know, why Southampton, they are bottom of the table with no wins one draw and a minus 13 goal difference! Well here's why...... They have been a bit unlucky. They have hit the woodwork six times this season second only to Man United and Chelsea on 7.

They are strong in possession. They have had 6,312 touches which only puts them behind Man City, Spurs and Liverpool. It's also no surprise then that they are 4th behind the same three teams in terms of number of passes.

They are showing signs of improvement. They were 2-0 up in their last home game against a good Leicester side and they only lost their last game to Man City 1-0 away.

All in all, I'm seeing signs of improvement and with Southampton at home on a mild cloudy but not rainy Autumn day against an Everton side that has only won once on the road this season.

If you want to go through a tough gameweek, be different and back The Saints!

Good Luck this gameweek!

When writing recently I’ve focused on some of the key factors you should look at when selecting your team for Last Man Standing. This week I’m getting more specific and giving you my Pick Of The Week.

This week I’m going with Chelsea who are at home to Newcastle.

The Magpies had a terrible transfer window in the Summer but by all accounts started the season well. However, with the injuries stacking up recently they have seen a dip in form (LDDLW) with the only win in 5 against bottom of the table Wolves.

Chelsea on the other hand have only lost one in the last 5 which was an away tie to an on form Liverpool on Sunday. Maresca and his men will be looking to bounce back from this and with only one player out injured (Omari Kellyman). Chelsea’s first team look strong and they have great strength and depth in their squad too.

The Blues have only lost once at home and that was to Man City, their first game of the season and while they have had a couple of draws the team is starting to find a rhythm under the new manager. They have already scored more than double that of Newcastle (17) which is not surprising as they have great firepower up front (Palmer 6, Jackson 5) which I think will be too much for the Newcastle defence.

It’s going to be a crisp sunny day in West London on Saturday, so no surprises weather wise that might impact play.

Chelsea’s last win at home (4-2) against Brighton who play a very similar formation to Newcastle too.

So, in short if you want to go through back The Blues!

Good Luck!

Terry
